Injection Moulding Process

Plastic injection moulding is a widely used manufacturing process for producing consistent, high quality plastic components with tight dimensional control. The process involves melting thermoplastic granules, injecting the molten material into a precision engineered mould, and allowing it to cool and solidify into the final shape. This method supports complex geometries, repeatability, and close tolerances, making it suitable for both functional and aesthetically finished parts.

Versatile Injection Moulding for Precision Components

At KMP Engineers, injection moulding is carried out using materials such as ABS, PP, Polycarbonate, and other engineering plastics based on application requirements. Each project follows a structured workflow that includes material selection, controlled machine parameter setting, and regular mould maintenance to ensure dimensional stability and surface consistency. The resulting components are uniform, structurally sound, and ready for secondary finishing processes where required.

FAQ's

Injection moulding is a process where molten plastic is injected into a mould to create a part with extreme precision. It’s ideal if you need consistent quality, tight tolerances, and high production volumes. Compared to manual or semi automated methods, it’s faster, more cost effective at scale, and produces parts that are ready for assembly or finishing

We follow a rigorous quality assurance system designed to meet high industry standards. Key measures include:

  • Verification of Incoming Raw Materials
  • Setup Validation for Moulds and Machines
  • Real Time Production Monitoring
  • Non Destructive and Destructive Testing
  • Inspection of Finished Components and Assemblies
  • Detailed Traceability and Reporting
  • Adherence to Relevant Certifications
  • Ongoing Quality Audits and Process Optimization

These practices help us maintain product reliability, reduce waste, and ensure every batch meets exacting client specifications.

We work with ABS, PP, Polycarbonate, and many other materials depending on your needs.

ABS offers excellent strength, dimensional stability, and surface finish ideal for aesthetic trims and premium looking parts.

PP is lightweight, chemical resistant, and flexible perfect for functional components or high impact applications.

Polycarbonate delivers exceptional impact resistance, clarity (if transparent), and heat resistance great for technical or safety critical parts.

If your product has special requirements, we can source or recommend other engineering plastics to match your design, durability, and budget goals

We can do both. If you want the colour directly in the moulded part, we use masterbatch colouring during injection so the part comes out in your desired shade.

no painting required. For metallic finishes like gold, rose gold, or chrome, we mould in natural plastic first and then use vacuum metallising or PU painting to achieve that perfect surface.

Yes, we can. If you bring your mould to us, we’ll first inspect and test fit it on our machines to ensure compatibility. We’ll recommend any maintenance, polishing, or minor adjustments needed to get the best results. Once approved, we can run production exactly to your specifications and volume requirements
